The "Instituut voor Doven" in #SintMichielsgestel (Noord-Brabant), the Netherlands, was founded in 1840 by Father Martinus van Beek to educate Catholic deaf children. Initially, the institute operated from the former seminary at Nieuw-Herlaer Castle. In 1908, construction began on a new, expansive neo-gothic building, designed by architect Hubert van Groenendael. Completed in 1910, this building allowed the institute to relocate from the castle to its new premises.
