Altes Rathaus

Description

The old town hall of #Michelstadt 🇩🇪, built in 1484, is one of the country's most iconic late gothic half-timbered buildings. Freestanding on the market square, it features an open ground-floor hall supported by massive oak posts (originally a market space), with the upper floor housing a council chamber. Characteristic details include pointed gables, bay turrets, curved braces, and crossed struts. It served multiple roles over centuries: town administration, assembly hall, school, hospital, and more.
