The "Markgräfliches Opernhaus" in #Bayreuth, is a baroque masterpiece built 1745-1750. Commissioned by Margravine Wilhelmine for her daughter's wedding, it was designed by Italian theatre architect Giuseppe Galli Bibiena (interior) with a sandstone façade by Joseph Saint-Pierre. Its free-standing structure features a bell-shaped auditorium with tiered wooden loges lined in illusionistic painted canvas, creating ephemeral ceremonial splendor. As the best-preserved example of 18th-century baroque court theatre, it influenced later public opera houses and offers authentic acoustics for 500 spectators.
