"Musée d'Orsay" in #Paris is housed in the former "Gare d'Orsay", a Beaux-Arts railway station built 1898-1900 by Victor Laloux for the 1900 Universal Exposition. Its stone facade hides a bold metal structure and vast 175m hall with a coffered vault inspired by Roman baths. After closing as a station in 1939 and near-demolition, it was transformed into a museum.
