Description

"Lincoln Cathedral" in #Lincoln, begun in 1072 by Bishop Remigius, was largely rebuilt after a 1185 earthquake. Under St. Hugh, it pioneered Early English gothic style, featuring innovative ribbed vaults and flying buttresses. The Angel Choir exemplifies decorated gothic with exquisite angel carvings and the Lincoln Imp legend. Its central tower and spire made it the world's tallest building (~160m) for over 200 years until the spire fell in the 1540s.
