Description

"Nordiska Museet", a museum of Nordic cultural history in #Stockholm, was founded in 1873 by Artur Hazelius as the Scandinavian Ethnographic Collection. It began collecting peasant artifacts, expanding to urban life, and became independent in 1963. The Djurgården building, designed by Isak Gustaf Clason in Danish Renaissance style inspired by Frederiksborg Palace, was completed in 1907 after 19 years, originally planned thrice larger. Its features include a 126m main hall with a Gustav Vasa statue, brick/granite walls, and concrete roof.
