The "Pulverturm" in #Wachtendonk is a historic powder tower and the only preserved part of the town's former fortifications besides Burg Wachtendonk ruins. Built 1605-1606 on the foundation of an earlier city tower, it is a two-story brick building in regional brick gothic tradition. Initially used for gunpowder storage, it later served as a grain silo for poor relief and had dungeon-like cellars functioning as town prison until 1812.
