The town hall of #Dewsbury is Victorian building in the heart of Dewsbury's old marketplace, designed by local architects Henry Holtom and George Arthur Fox. Its foundation stone was laid in October 1886, and it opened in September 1889 at a cost of £40,000. The prominent clock tower features a Cambridge quarter-chiming clock (installed 1889) donated by Alderman Mark Oldroyd, with five bells from Taylor of Loughborough. The site previously held a hotel, forge, blacksmith, and small shops.
