Description

The town hall of #Herve (Liège), Belgium was originally built in 1846 on the former Place du Perron. It was deliberately burned by advancing German troops on August 8, 1914, during the early days of World War I. Rebuilt in 1929 in eclectic style, it features a triangular pediment bearing the Roman numerals 1914 and 1929 plus the Belgian coat of arms. The left facade shows metopes with Herve's coat of arms and the tools of tanner and shoemaker; two major pre-war local trades.
