"Château de Rixensart", a renaissance castle in #Rixensart (Waals-Brabant), Belgium, was built between 1631-1662 by Pierre-Ernest de Gavre and Philippe-Hippolyte Spinola on the site of a 13th-century fortress. Since 1715 it has been owned by the princely de Merode family. Surrounded by a grand courtyard with four elegant corner towers, Italian-style arcades adorned with coats of arms, and a 1738 clock tower, the castle features gardens attributed to André Le Nôtre and a rich interior with priceless princely collections.
