Description

"Kasteel Jerusalem", is a 16th-century castle-like manor in #Maastricht (Limburg). Located near Limmel, it was built by Pieter van den Driesch Proenen after a fire destroyed the earlier "Drieschhof". Named "Jerusalem" by Andries Proenen after his 1557 Holy Land visit, it passed to the Jesuits in 1588, then to the Dolmans family until 1770, and later the De Crassier family until the late 20th century. The U-shaped manor, remodeled into a rectangle in the 19th century, features Maasland Renaissance-style brickwork, a Jerusalem cross, and a preserved octagonal turret.
