Description

"Geeraard de Duivelsteen" in #Gent (Oost-Vlaanderen), Belgium, is a 13th-century gothic stone house named after knight Geeraard van Gent. Originally a defensive structure for the Portus at Reep, it later served as a knight’s residence, arsenal, monastery, school, seminary, asylum, and prison. In the 14th century, it became city property. It was restored and expanded between 1891 and 1908 by Arthur Verhaegen.
