"Kasteel Vaalsbroek", near #Vaals (Limburg), the Netherlands, dates to 1420 as the seat of the lords of Vaelsbroich, named from "Vallis" (valley) and "Broich" (marsh). Owned by Limburg families, it passed to Johan Crümmel in the 16th century, then the Van Eys family until 1733. In 1761, Johann Arnold von Clermont, a cloth manufacturer, bought and modernized it. The U-shaped mansion, remodeled in 1761 in classicist style by Joseph Moretti, features a grand staircase, park, and a watermill.
