The decision to construct a new town hall in #Calais was made in 1885 following the annexation of Saint-Pierre-lès-Calais by Calais. However, financial difficulties and criticism delayed the commencement of construction until 1911. The outbreak of World War I further postponed progress, and the building was not completed until 1925. The building was designed by Louis Debrouwer.
