​The "Castle of Nieuwenhoven", located near #Nieuwerkerken (Limburg), Belgium, originated as a simple farm in 1329 and was later fortified. It served as the summer residence for the abbots of Sint-Trudo Abbey from the late 13th century and became their permanent residence in the 18th century. The current farm section dates back to the 17th century. In 1861, Charles Whettnall renovated the castle in English neo-tudor style. After a fire in 1932, it was rebuilt in a simpler neoclassical style in the 1950s. The surrounding landscape retains the structure of a 19th-century English landscape garden.
