The "Schepenhuis" in #Mechelen (Antwerpen), Belgium, is considered the first stone town hall in Flanders. Constructed in 1288, it served as the meeting place for the city's aldermen. Between 1374 and 1375, artists like André Beauneveu and Jan I Keldermans contributed to its decoration. In 1473, under Charles the Bold, it housed the Parliament of Mechelen, the highest court in the Netherlands, until its brief abolition in 1477. Later, under Philip the Handsome, it was reinstated as the Great Council of Mechelen, remaining there until 1616.
