Description

The "Asyl voor Oude en Gebrekkige Zeelieden" is a courtyard comprising 14 residences located in #Brielle (Zuid-Holland), the Netherlands. Commissioned by the main committee commemorating 1572-1872 in Brielle, it was designed by C. Outshoorn in neo-renaissance style. King William III laid the first stone on April 1, 1872. The complex features an L-shaped layout; the originally planned west wing was never built. At the center of Asylplein stands a bronze statue called 'De Zeenimph' (The Sea Nymph), created by J.Ph. Koelman and unveiled in September 1873.
