The "Oude Bornhof" in #Zutphen (Gelderland), a historic courtyard. It was established around 1320 when canon Borro willed his home for poor elderly care, managed by the city. Built in 1343, it features a medieval roof structure and cellars in Huize Borro. Expanded over centuries, it became an "Oude Mannen- en Vrouwenhuis" in 1611. A grand 1723 gateway by Isaac van den Heuvel, with statues of an elderly pair, marks the entrance. Strict rules from 1755 required residents to be 50-60, of good character, and local for years, surrendering possessions. Expanded in the 19th century with neoclassical buildings, it housed the needy until modern care shifted its role.
