Description

The town hall of #Lyon is a 17th-century building on Place des Terreaux. Designed by Simon Maupin (with Girard Desargues), construction ran from 1646 to 1672 in French classical/Louis XIII style with renaissance revival elements: symmetrical ashlar facade, nine bays, and projecting pavilions. A 1674 fire led to restoration and modifications by Jules Hardouin-Mansart (Versailles architect), enhancing its baroque and classical features.
