Rathaus Wernigerode

Description

The town hall of #Wernigerode originated around 1420 as a count's playhouse on older cellars. It evolved into a market hall, gained a half-timbered upper storey by 1494, and became the town hall in 1530. Its current appearance features late gothic half-timbered style with distinctive pointed oriel towers and turrets added in a 1936 neo-gothic/romantic renovation.
