"Palacio de Aguas Corrientes" in #BuenosAires is a eclectic water pumping station, designed in 1877 by Norwegian architect Olaf Boye, Swedish engineer Carlos Nyströmer, and British civil engineer John Bateman. Construction started in 1887, and it was inaugurated in 1894 to replace a water tower and house twelve massive water tanks three floors. Its iron frame, fabricated in Belgium and supported by 180 columns, is clad in over 300,000 vibrant glazed terra cotta tiles from Royal Doulton, topped by a tin mansard roof, and adorned with escutcheons of the era's 14 Argentine provinces. Caryatids flank the entrance amid landscaped gardens with a bust honoring engineer Guillermo Villanueva.
