The old town hall of #Prague originated in 1338, when the councillors purchased and adapted a large patrician house from the Volflin family. Over the centuries, it expanded by incorporating adjacent houses, resulting in an eclectic architectural patchwork rather than a unified design. A prominent square stone tower, the tallest in medieval Prague, was completed in 1364 and has survived largely intact. Key pre-war additions included Mikeš house (1458), enabling interior modifications and a Late Gothic net-vaulted Council Chamber around 1470. The south facade preserves rich details: a highly ornamented Late Gothic portal with ogee arch, pinnacles, and finial from the late 15th century; a renaissance window from the 1520s bearing the inscription "Praga caput regni" and royal emblems; and another 16th-century renaissance window.
