Description

The "Tempelierssteen" in #Ieper (West-Vlaanderen), also known as "Hooghuis" or "Old Post", is a gothic reconstruction from the 14th century with a preserved medieval core. Despite the Templars' strong presence in Ieper, there's no link to them; it was originally a linen hall, resembling the Cloth Hall. In the late 19th century, it fell into disrepair and served as a brewery. In 1897, the government acquired and rebuilt it into a post office. Its seven-bay facade features crenellated parapet, trilobed tracery on pointed windows and decorations, corner turrets with finials, and a steep saddle roof with walnut timbering.
