The cottages on the Rosmolenstraat in #Hasselt (Overijssel) belong to the former "Proveniershuis". The corner house dates back to 1393. After the Reformation, it served as a weigh house and was converted into a residence in 1610, split in two with a new brick façade added. On the rear plot, seven proveniershuisjes (retirement cottages) were built; the last one has a stepped gable facing Hofstraat and bears the year 1611 in anchors. A provenier was a middle-aged person who paid a lump sum to secure carefree old age in such a home.
