"Kasteeldomein Blauwhuis" in #Izegem (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium, is a historic castle first mentioned in 1544. It sits in an informal park with a moat fed by the Kasteelbeek. Originally a farmstead of the Schiervelde estate, it was named Blauwhuis for its blue slate roof. In the late 17th century, Judocus Francois Van Huerne transformed it into a summer residence. By 1746, Aybert van Huerne built a new castle with gardens and a Chinese bridge. Damaged by French troops in 1794, it was restored, and an English garden was added in 1804. The De Pélichy family owned it from 1807, with further renovations in the 19th century.
