"Kasteel van Groot-Bijgaarden" in #GrootBijgaarden (Vlaams-Brabant), built by the lords of Bijgaarden around 1110, started as a motte castle to protect southern lands. It features a moat, a five-arch bridge, and a 14th-century gatehouse with a 30-meter tower from 1347. Constructed in Flemish renaissance style with brick and a slate roof, it fell into disrepair but was restored starting in 1902 over 30 years by Raymond Pelgrims de Bigard, whose descendants continued the work.
