The "Hôpital Notre-Dame à la Rose" in #Lessines (Henegouwen), Belgium, is a museum in a former hospital founded in 1242. Its 16th- to 18th-century monastic buildings form a quadrangle blending renaissance and late gothic architecture. The harmonious design features a cloister, chapel, herb garden, and icehouse. Lessines' porphyry, a mottled dark red stone, was used for architectural decoration, with quarries open for visits. Initially an L-shaped structure with essential spaces like a ward and refectory, it evolved to support hospital and monastic life.
