The "Hof van Schoofs", a 15th-century city palace on in #Mechelen (Antwerpen), evolved from the 13th-century Lakenhuis. The Schoofs family merged two buildings ("Het Schaakberd" and "De Leeuw") in the 15th century. In 1474, Jan I Carondelet acquired it. Mid-16th century, wine merchant Claude Ritz added a turret on the backside. The building served the crossbow guild from 1655.
