Description

An eclectic-style corner building in #Antwerpen from 1880 by Frans Smet-Verhas, revised by Lievin Van Opstal in 1882. The four-story structure with a mansard roof features a symmetrical, ornate plaster facade with red granite shop front. The design emphasizes the chamfered corner and side bays with cast-iron pilasters, large shop windows, and an entresol. The upper facade has rhythmic balconies with volute consoles, acanthus details, and a balustraded corner balcony. Rectangular windows in molded frames, alternating with rounded balconies, create a classical ordonnance. A cornice and attics with oculi and vases crown the design.
