Description

The Sint-Germanus Church in Tienen (Vlaams-Brabant), Belgium, was originally constructed in the first half of the 12th century. It features a romanesque architectural style with a westwork, three naves separated by pillars, a low transept, and a choir flanked by two towers. The church has undergone several modifications over the centuries, including the addition of a central tower around 1555 and a baroque spire in 1713. Notable interior elements include a 12th-century baptismal font, a pulpit crafted by Petrus Valckx (~1760), and a carillon by Willem Witlockx (1723) comprising 54 bells. The church's westwork is considered an influential example of romanesque architecture, inspiring similar designs in the region.
