The "Oudemannenhuis", is a historic building in #Breda (Noord-Brabant). It dates back to the early 17th century and was part of a medieval hospital complex. Its origins trace to Roman times, with archaeological evidence of a well. First mentioned in 1246, it was funded by Godfried IV van Schoten. Initially a hospital, it housed nuns from St. Catharinadal (1295-1308) and later served as a leper and plague ward. By 1634, it became a home for elderly men. The 1643 facade, designed by Laureys Drijffhout, features a classicist entrance and statues. A 1502 clock tower remains active. Over time, it included a farm, bakery, and brewery.
