The Antwerp City Hall, located on the Grote Markt, is a renaissance building designed by architect Cornelis Floris De Vriendt and constructed between 1561 and 1564 in Antwerpen (Antwerpen). It predominantly showcases renaissance architecture, with its central section hinting at Baroque influences. In the 16th century, as Antwerp's population and administrative demands grew, the existing town hall became inadequate. Initial plans for a new building were proposed around 1540 by architect Dominicus de Waghemakere, but these were postponed due to prioritization of city fortifications. A renewed design emerged in 1560, leading to the construction of the current city hall.
