Description

The "Boerenboom and Oude Gouwsboom" are two water gates in #Enkhuizen (Noord-Holland), Netherlands, located in the Vest, the city's landside defensive wall. Built in 1593 during a major city expansion, these gates, sealed with wooden shutters, also functioned as sluices. A third gate, the "Ketenboom", near the former "Ketenpoort", was demolished in the late 19th century for the Zaandam-Enkhuizen railway.
