Description

The "Vleeshal" in #Breda (Noord-Brabant), the Netherlands, was originally a private residence named "Het Witte Lam." In 1617, it became a meat market, indicated by a stone gate with bull heads by Melchior van Herbach. The upper floor was used by the St. Joris Guild for crossbow and archery from 1617. After a 1772 renovation, a pediment with St. George and the dragon and the inscription "Anno MDCCLXXII" was added. The guild disbanded around 1850. In 1861, a butter market opened on the ground floor, and by 1864, the upper floor was converted into two residences.
