D'Oliphant

Description

"D'Oliphant" is a historic farmhouse with an octagonal‑tower, originally built in 1591 near Nieuwesluis on Voorne Island, commissioned by ivory trader Cornelis van Coolwijk, who named it after his Delft residence, In de Gulden Olyphant. The structure was designed to evoke the prestige of a knightly estate. Over centuries, it served as a tenant farmhouse and later accommodated various uses in the 18th and 19th centuries.
