Description

The "Maison de l'Arbre d'Or" ("House of the Golden Tree"), also known as the "Maison des Brasseurs" ("House of the Brewers"), is a baroque guild house located at the Grand-Place in #Brussel. Originally associated with tanners and later tapestry makers, it became the brewers' guild house in the 17th century. After being destroyed in the 1695 bombardment of Brussels, it was rebuilt in 1698 by architect Guillaume de Bruyn. The richly decorated façade features sculptures by Marc de Vos and Pierre Van Dievoet, and is topped by a gilded equestrian statue of Charles Alexander of Lorraine, installed in 1752. Today, the building houses the Belgian Brewers Museum.
