"Kasteel Borgitter", is located northeast of #Kinrooi (Limburg), near Neeritter, close to the Dutch border. The oldest part, a square corner tower, dates back to 1510, with the castle first mentioned in 1546. The current rectangular structure likely dates from the late 18th century. Originally built by Jan van Waes, drossaard of Horne and second husband of Elisabeth van Kessenich, it became the residence of the lords of Kessenich after the decline of the nearby Den Berg castle around 1726. The estate also includes a central gatehouse, steward's house, and two farms: Breukskenshof and Grotenhof.
